Who wins on Monday Night Football?
The Seattle Seahawks vs. Washington Football Team pits two teams trending in opposite directions against each other. The Seahawks are sputtering offensively, even with Russell Wilson recently returning from injury. On the other hand, Washington is coming off of a pair of wins against the NFC South. Let’s take a look at the NFL odds for this matchup, along with making my pick and overall prediction for Seattle vs. Washington.
- Spread: Washington -1 (Odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook)
- Moneyline: Seahawks -105, Washington -115
- Over/Under: 47
Can Russell Wilson return to form?
Wilson was healthy for the first four games of the season, compiling 1,044 yards and 9 touchdowns on only 109 pass attempts. He completed 11 of 16 pass attempts for 152 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception before getting hurt against the Rams in Week 5.
Wilson returned quickly from his finger injury, struggling against the Packers and Cardinals. In those games, he totaled 368 yards without any touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He’s also completed only 51.5% of his passes in those games.
Although Wilson’s struggled, Washington’s allowing 270 passing yards per game this season. They’re also giving up nearly 75% of their yards through the air, meaning Seattle will have to rely almost solely on Wilson for offensive production.
The only concern is Washington’s recent success, holding their opponents to under 200 passing yards per game over their last three contests.
Seahawks vs. Washington betting trends
These are two teams that have struggled against the spread (ATS) this season. Seattle’s covered in 50% of their games, while Washington’s covered in only 30% of theirs.
With that being said, the Football Team’s found more success in recent games. They’re coming off of two consecutive wins as underdogs of +10 and +3 points.
The Seahawks are on the opposite side of the spectrum. They’ve failed to cover the spread in either game since Wilson returned, and they own a 2-5 ATS record with him in the lineup.
Vegas has overvalued Wilson and undervalued Geno Smith throughout the season, allowing Seattle to boast an even 5-5 ATS record thus far.
Seahawks vs. Washington prediction
It’s tough to predict this Seahawks vs. Washington game. If an elite Russell Wilson enters FedExField, Seattle has the pieces to defeat Washington’s suspect pass defense. It could be an easy sell-high/buy-low situation.
With that being said, it’s impossible to trust the Seahawks’ defense, who just allowed Colt McCoy to throw for 328 yards and 2 touchdowns.
This is a game that should rely more on offenses than defenses. Both offenses should rely on their passing games, forcing the clock to stop on incompletions. Although I slightly prefer the home team in this matchup, I much prefer to bet the over rather than the spread early in the week.
Seattle vs. Washington Prediction: Washington Football Team 27, Seattle Seahawks 24
