Say goodbye to Christian McCaffrey, Mike Davis, and Robby Anderson

Roster management is the single most crucial in-season task for fantasy football players. Just as important as adding the right players is knowing when players need to go. Which players find themselves on our Week 13 fantasy football cut list?

Fantasy Week 13 Cut List | Quarterbacks

Let’s go position by position and pinpoint players that no longer need to be on your fantasy roster. Which fantasy quarterbacks are on the Week 13 cut list?

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

For the past two weeks, Cam Newton was featured in my waiver wire column. He fooled me again. In Week 12, Newton reminded us why Bill Belichick cut him in favor of Mac Jones and why he was unemployed for 10 weeks. He is a shell of a shell of his former self.

Newton was benched for P.J. Walker in the fourth quarter last week. The game was not out of reach at the time. Head coach Matt Rhule benched Newton because Walker gave the team a better chance to win. Newton completed a total of 7 passes last week, but 2 of them were to the other team. He had a 23.8% completion percentage. The Panthers are on bye this week. You’re never starting Newton again. Drop him.

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans

Ryan Tannehill is coming off his two worst fantasy outings of the season. Now, his team is on bye. In a game the Titans trailed by multiple scores, Tannehill attempted just 21 passes as Mike Vrabel elected to pound the ball with Dontrell Hilliard and D’Onta Foreman.

When a coach would rather run the ball with two replacement-level backs than let his quarterback throw, even when throwing is the only way to try and mount a comeback, that’s rock bottom. Tannehill does not need to be on fantasy rosters.

Running Backs

Which fantasy RBs should be cut heading into Week 13? There’s plenty of dead weight at the position.

Mike Davis, Atlanta Falcons

It’s time. Mike Davis has been clinging to fantasy life due to Cordarrelle Patterson’s injury and his snap share, but that’s all gone now. Davis hasn’t crested a 50% snap share in three straight games.

In those three games, Davis is averaging just over 7 opportunities (targets + carries) per game. He’s nothing more than a guy who gets some touches when Patterson is tired. Drop him.

Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers

This one hurts to write. The Panthers placed Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve due to the ankle injury he sustained last week. He is done for the season and can safely be dropped.

Latavius Murray, Baltimore Ravens

Latavius Murray remains on the wrong side of the timeshare with Devonta Freeman. Since returning from injury, Murray has carried the ball 18 times for 46 yards. He has no fantasy value. You can release him.

Which fantasy wide receivers are on the Week 13 cut list? A veteran and a player on a low-volume passing attack highlight the list.

Robby Anderson, Carolina Panthers

After Cam took over at quarterback, there was some optimism Robby Anderson would wake up. It’s not happening. Anderson’s target share remains respectable, but we are 12 weeks into the season, and the production hasn’t followed. It’s imprudent to expect it to suddenly appear.

Anderson caught 1 pass for 15 yards last week. The week before, he had 30 yards on 5 receptions. There’s nothing here. You can safely cut him.

Marquez Callaway, New Orleans Saints

Last week, Marquez Callaway played a season-low 60% of the snaps. He’s seen 4 targets in three consecutive games. Even with the move to Taysom Hill at quarterback, there’s no reason to expect Callaway’s target share or productivity to increase. You can drop him.
