Multiple Teams In Talks With Reds About Tyler Mahle, Sonny Gray, Luis Castillo
Per an early morning report from MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the Reds have had talks with multiple teams about their starting pitchers, including Tyler Mahle, Sonny Gray, and Luis Castillo. Morosi’s tweet suggests that most talks have revolved around Mahle (who has two years of control remaining after a breakout 2021) and Gray (who’s under contract for 2022 for $10.2MM, with a $12MM club option for 2023), either of whom would cost significantly less in prospect capital than would Castillo. Like Mahle, Castillo has two years of club control remaining, but he also has a longer track record of consistent high-end production than either Mahle or Gray.
More to come.
